A look into practice: Personnel diagnostics with Steinbach & Partner

Personnel diagnostics is an instrument that is often used in the evaluation, development and placement of managers. The aim is to identify as early as possible which candidates show potential for further development and to incorporate this result into the personnel development strategy.
We recently carried out such a potential analysis for one of our customers using the Hogan Assessment in combination with structured interviews. We spoke to the project manager, Daniela Mesbah, about the project.
Daniela, why should companies focus more on personnel diagnostic procedures?
“We live in times of a shortage of skilled workers - it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit staff and, in my opinion, companies would do well to invest in their existing employee potential in order not only to develop them further but also to keep them in the company in the long term. Management and personnel development programs are now particularly present in large companies, and the process of personnel diagnostics can be a valuable tool in advance to support companies.
Possible development programs are therefore no longer decided "on a gut feeling" but are based on a well-founded and objective assessment and, in particular, guarantee internal comparability.”
How did you specifically proceed in the current project?
“Our personnel diagnostics process is based on two pillars - completing an online-based Hogan Assessment on the one hand and conducting a structured interview on the other.
The interview questions must be tailored to the customer in advance in order to make a targeted statement about the individual participants. The results of Hogan Assessment and those of the structured interview are evaluated by the consultant, recorded in report form and ultimately provide a meaningful picture of the candidate's personality, strengths and development potential and concrete recommendations for action to support and advance further career steps.”
